Today I found my beater in this condition.
I start with some cleaning.
I got home some tools to repair/rebuild Rolex Jubilee & Oyster bracelets.
And some pins that will do the work.
This is the part that will take it apart is made so it will not scratch the links or slip.
So lets start the work and put the bracelet into the tool.
Here we can see how nice it attach to the links.
Then it looks the same at the other side and then just pull it apart by turning the threaded knob at the side.
Here we can see how good the fit is on the tool.
The pins are still in the one link.
On this brcelet, the pins are not as worn as they usually are, so we may not see much of a difference on the bracelet on this example.
Here you can see the links at the left side is really worn out.
A plier are required to pull out the pins and you turn the tool to attach the link part.
One of the pin is ok and the other have some wear.
Here are 3 link pieces in parts.
Measure what size of the pins I need.
New pins in the side link presses in place like this.
So I start to press in the pins into the side link.
Then I have to press back the other side link.
So now I'm good to go again and can use my beater again.
My bracelet is actually completely worn out and needs new pins everywhere, but for now I'll make do with it like this and do a serious renovation later.
What did I learn from this?It is much more fine mechanics than I thought.It takes a little patience to get things together.
Then you have to be careful to keep track of the location of the side links as these are different sizes.
Now, this link was an old obsolete thing, so it is good to practice before I start to fix these links for real.
