Dear Members of the Formex Watch Club,
As you may have heard, the U.S. government is imposing a significant new tariff on Swiss-made watches.
Starting Wednesday, August 7th, the import duty will jump from the current 10% to 39%—a move that affects every Swiss watch manufacturer shipping to the United States.
At Formex, we believe that fine watchmaking should remain accessible—even as external costs rise. In fact, since the current 10% tariff was introduced on April 5th, we’ve fully absorbed it on your behalf—along with an 8% currency devaluation since our last price adjustment on March 7th.
We’re in this together. As a family-owned manufacturer, we’re doing everything we can to absorb these rising costs without ever compromising on either our product or service. To keep building and supporting our craft sustainably, we’ll only be adjusting prices to reflect the new tariff, and nothing more. We are not passing on past increases—only what’s necessary going forward.
Here's what that means for you:
• Place your order for an in-stock watch by Sunday, August 3rd at 11.59 EDT (Eastern Daylight Time), and you’ll lock in current pricing. These orders will ship Monday or Tuesday, to allow U.S. customs clearance before the tariff increase takes effect. As always, the price you see on our Online Boutique is a final price, including all shipping, taxes, duties and tariffs.
• Pre-orders are excluded from this shipping window, but if you’ve already placed a pre-order, rest assured—we’ll honor your original price, even if your watch ships after August 7th.
• Starting Monday, August 5th, our USD price list will be updated to reflect the newly imposed tariff
We understand that timing matters—and so does transparency. If you’ve been considering a new Formex, this weekend is your window to beat the increases for in-stock watches.
This situation is still developing, and we’ll reassess our approach after August 7th if there are any changes on the U.S. or Swiss side.
